एक एम.बी.ए कॉलेज में 100 विद्यार्थी अध्ययन कर रहे हैं, जिनमें  से 7 मित्र- P, Q, R, S, A, B और C, तीन विभिन्न शहरों- X, Y और Z में रहते हैं। एक शहर में कम-से-कम दो और अधिक-से अधिक तीन मित्र रहते हैं। इनमें से प्रत्येक मित्र अलग-अलग रंग की शर्ट पहनते हैं अर्थात-लाल, हरा, नीला, सफेद, काला, पीला और गुलाबी, लेकिन यह आवश्यक नहीं है कि इसी क्रम में हो। B गुलाबी रंग की शर्ट पहनता है और उसी शहर में रहता है जिसमें उसके साथ केवल C रहता है अर्थात- X|  R काले रंग की शर्ट पहनता है और वह शहर-Z में नहीं रहता है। S उस शहर में नहीं रहता है, जिसमें P या A रहते हैं और वह पीले रंग की शर्ट पहनता है। Q, शहर-Z में केवल एक और व्यक्ति के साथ रहता है तथा वह एक हरे रंग की शर्ट पहनता है। शहर-Y में रहने वाला कोई भी व्यक्ति सफेद रंग की शर्ट नहीं पहनता है। A नीले रंग की शर्ट नहीं पहनता है।
